This is the perfect smoothie to have for breakfast or after a workout. It’s incredibly revitalizing! In this smoothie recipe, every ingredient works to elevate the next. They work with each other and work for you! So why should you be putting turmeric in your smoothie (or cooking with it)? Because turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. You might also be wondering why in the world there is pepper in your smoothie, but here’s why: pepper aids in the absorption of turmeric. Turmeric also needs fat for the body to properly absorb it, hence the coconut oil. Not only does it also make it SO delicious, but also provides you with fuel and helps your body to burn fat (because you are eating a healthy fat). Awesome, right? I know! Kefir, thanks to its probiotics, is also really good for your gut and digestion-- but make sure to get it unsweetened, lots of them come with unnecessary added sugar. So really, this smoothie is the definition of power. And if you can find fresh turmeric that you can just grate in, even better!
Smooth(ie) tip: Get a bunch of bananas, peel, and pack individually to freeze. They come in super handy for smoothies as they naturally add sweetness and texture!
